Madam,
UNIFORM HOLIDAYS CHEQUE TRUNCATION SYSTEM CHENNAI GRID
The issue of Uniform holidays applicable to the clearing house/service branches of various Banks was taken up time and again by UFBU with IBA and also with the local in charge of Banks who are entrusted with clearing house responsibilities [ie] RBI/SBI pertaining to the holidays declared under NI Act.
2. It is a matter of record that the holidays are declared by the State Government in consultation with Reserve Bank of India under Negotiable Instruments Act. Consequently, there should not be any contradiction in the matter of adoption of RTGS holidays for the purpose of service centres operations. The reason advocated by you that the ‘time lag stipulated for clearing of cheque” should not be the basis for making the individual Bank service branches to work on holidays declared under Negotiable Instruments Act.
3. In addition to the above, the local Chapter of UFBU [Tamilnadu] had led a delegation and met the higher authorities in charge of clearing house operations in RBI and submitted our candid view points to address the issue confronted by a section of the work force in the Banking operations. No concrete efforts have been initiated to find a permanent solution to the perennial problem of conflicting leave availability to a service branch employee vis-à-vis an employee in the Branch.
4. As the impending wage revision is eluding a satisfactory solution and the nine constituents under the umbrella UFBU has already unleashed an action programme in which to withdraw all types of extra co-operation by workmen/officers with immediate effect and to boycott all meetings called for by the Bank managements after normal office hours. The meeting also decided against working on “Sundays and other holidays
”In view of the above, AIBOA, the second largest representative body of officer has directed all officers that they should not work on 1st January 2015, a holiday declared under N.I.Act in the service branches of various Banks, under Chennai GRID.Please take note of this and evolve an alternative.
Yours faithfully,
