Government has given perhaps permission to Rahul Gandhi led protest march at Ramlila maidan. But great festival of Hindu is Diwali and Chhath and common men celebrate these festivals with full devotion.
Proposed rally may hamper not only business community but also affect adversely happiness of common men for whom Diwali and Chhath are most pious festivals.
It is but natural that every road , every shop business and all daily wage earners will be highly impacted by proposed rally .
Local commuters and people who travel for work or entertainment by car train or bus will definitely face greater hardhip in trains, platforms, bus stands and all places where marketing is done.
Therefore government should provide maximum possible police forces and other forces at every crowd fetching locations so that common men do not face any inconvenience and above all miscreants in protest rally cannot find opportunity to cause damage to publuc and private properties. By doing this government may win the hearts of common men of all groups.
The management of large-scale protests in the national capital, particularly during major festive seasons like Diwali and Chhath, presents a significant administrative challenge in balancing democratic rights with public order and convenience.
Public Impact and Economic Concerns
• Business Disruptions: Traders and shopkeepers in markets around Central and Old Delhi often express concern that large rallies can deter festival shoppers, leading to financial losses during their peak business season.
• Daily Wage Earners: Street vendors, auto-rickshaw drivers, and daily wage laborers are heavily dependent on smooth traffic and open markets, making them highly vulnerable to roadblocks or route diversions.
• Commuter Hardships: Large gatherings at transit hubs like New Delhi Railway Station (near Ramlila Maidan), metro stations, and major arterial roads typically lead to severe traffic congestion, impacting those traveling for work or festival preparations.
Security and Administrative Measures
To mitigate these disruptions and prevent miscreants from causing damage to public or private property, law enforcement agencies like the Delhi Police typically deploy comprehensive security plans:
• Heavy Security Deployment: Paramilitary forces and local police are stationed at high-footfall areas, market complexes, and sensitive choke points to maintain law and order.
• Traffic Diversions: The traffic police issue advance advisories and map out alternative routes to keep public buses, emergency vehicles, and private cars moving smoothly.
• Transit Hub Monitoring: Enhanced surveillance and security personnel are deployed at railway platforms, metro stations, and bus terminals to manage overcrowding and ensure commuter safety.
Balancing the right to peaceful protest with the preservation of public peace and economic activity remains a critical focus for urban governance, especially during culturally significant times of the year.
