   Hospitalization & Home Quaratine

            IS SAME IN COVID-19

In the matter cited above, we have to make following submissions:

1. Lakhs of Bank Pensioners have taken Health Insurance cover from Public Sector Insurers, as per scheme finalized by Indian Banks' Association and Unions. Policy holders are getting cashless treatment on hospitalization in chain hospitals through TPA.

2. Insurance companies are honoring Hospitalization bills under Covid-19 positive/hospitalization cases. However, Insurance companies are not honoring/ reimbursing medical bills in case of Home Quarantine of Covid19 positive cases.

3. Covid19 patients are of 'one' class of disease and since adequate hospitals, beds, equipments etc have not been available, so Home Quarantine was deviced by Govts, as an altertive to Hospitalization. Treatment in Hospitals or under Home Quarantine is same & identical. All medicines, equipments, independent room with toilet, nursing person, precautions etc are necessary in Home Quarantine, as in case of hospitalization. Home Quarantine & Hospitalization is same in Covid-19 cases.

4. Under circumstances, Covid-19 is not an ordinary disease and Home Quarantine is not a sort of domestic treatment. Home Quarantine is under compulsions and circumstances beyond control, as explained in para 3 supra.

5. How Insurers can take such illogical  and unpragmatic stand in this respect? Thousands of Policy holders have been Covid positive. It shall continue further. Such Covid positive people have either been hospitalized or put under Home Quarantine. Expenses in Hospitals are good, but same expenses in Home Quarantine are void and acceptable, it's totally wrong and it amounts to sheer apathy of Insurers.

We, therefore, request you to please look into this apathy of Insurance companies and advise them to settle Home Quarantine bills, including Room & nursing charges as in case of Hospitalization. 

We anxiously look to your action in this regard. Hope, legitimate relief is extended to Home Quarantine cases by Insurers.
