Dear Gentlemen,

What's Next Right Course For YOU ?

On 22.8.2020, we wrote a letter to 3 Officers Unions and 3 Workmen Unions on then prevalent situations.

On 5th  October, 2020, we wrote a open letter to 4 OUs as a reaction to their letter of 3rd October, 2020 addressed to Convener, UFBU.

4 OUs in their letter of 3rd instant, apparently made their view points eloquently clear on many contentious issues, particularly Pension updating in  conformity  with declaration that AIBOC made in its New Delhi Dharana. Since, MOU 22.7.2020, has been silent on certain vital issues including Pension revision, it caused a fissure among Unions.

However, after MOU it was expected, IBA would conven full Negotiating Commitee Meeting on 'other issues', which didn't happen.

In a calculated move, IBA  started Group meetings with officers & workmen Unions on distribution of load amounts.

Now, it is apparently clear from 4 OUs letter of 3rd instant that the task is fixed at 'some' level and inking wage pact is only a matter of time.

We think, none has any doubt it.

This situation in store forced 4 OUs to take some preemptive action, which they did in writing the letter on 3rd.

Pertinent question is: when you all jointly and severally have same view, why not  collective wisdom is applied and united stand is taken?

Further, in UFBU all constituents have equal status, then how one or two are dictating rest you all?

It's very disgusting, frustrating and dismaying that the  Convener is behaving like supremo, his words are final and there is no anymore consensus & cohesion in UFBU.

After MOU, right course was to hold UFBU meeting to iron our fissures. Instead this, IBA is moving under tacit support of it's agents in UFBU. Bedi is cornered. You all constituents are asking for meeting, but the same is not held, deliberately avoided to smoothen IBA way to win it's game.

It's most annihilating situation. BEFI letter is treated as tissue paper. Same way, 4 OUs letter of 3rd Oct is likely to be treated. These are hard realities, bitter truths, difficult to say & swallow.

In our letter of 7th we made situation very clear. Signing a wage settlement will be like to have one side printed currency notes. How the one side printed currency hold any value, we think, not difficult to  understand!

Such settlement will only be humiliating one. No amount of explanation shall justify your acts. Bankmen know, done is done, it can't be undone by either side. So, right course is not to think any more about the things you have in hands, but to strive hard what you don't have.

We reiterate, please discuss among yourselves, how your signing a half settlement, make you  important and significant, when the most important and significant part of the settlement shall be missing from?  If you jointly take a stand not to sign settlement without Pension revision on RBI lines, we think, you shall restore your  lost relevance and credibility, even if you don't get your issues resolved.

Remaining issues are of equity & justice with fellowmen. Pension Revision, because it is done in RBI. D.A. parity because it is paid to working people. Health insurance because it is given to working people. In nut shell, issues are  'discrimination' based. Just, you need necessary courage, confident, patience & a little amount of wisdom to work strategically &  say 'no' to ink ensuing settlement, without Pension Revision and health from WFs as per DFS letter dated 24.2.2012 etc.

Take it as another opportunity to prove your relevance, you all have lost somewhere in company of thugs.

Otherwise for face cover 50 paise mask is enough. Your speaking, writing on 3rd or another 5 pages on 9th Oct make no sense. For the God sake, be honest and sincere, because trade union is a serious business that you all have down graded in last 20 years and become worst than street vendors.

Gentlemen,  Trade Union is a matter of conviction, not convenience. Under UFBU, you all made Trade Union as a job of convenience. Conviction had been thrown in ocean. If conviction was any more live, no such discrimination could have crept in. It's convenience that made you '11th hour' strategists, making whole fraternity it's victim.

OUs 5 page letter of 9th Oct is a proof that these organizations have been under deep slumber for last over 3 years and now giving a detailed letter as to what are left out to be done.

Hope, you awake, rise up conscientiously and work up with conviction, no more for convenience. Once you decide to go with conviction, you win your half battle.

Wish wisdom prevails.

Greetings,

(J. N. Shukla)
