Why Local Government Is Silent?

 People of some  community or the other are slowly and gradually taking possession of government land ,Railway land & forest land. They start from building kuchha construction & then slowly build pukka house on it for shopping or for residential purpose.

None of state government officials or Railway officials or Forest officials take care of it in the beginning to nip in the bud. Later when the situation become a law and order problem, they (means encroachers) will demand compensation for  vacating unlawful possession of land making it a issue of their existence and survival or they will use violence to stop police carrying out drive against encroachment.

Gross negligence of Responsible officers for days, months and years become an emotional and communal issue in a span of few years. Government officials in a decade come out with anti encroachment drive in a district or two for a few days to target a few and give a press release and finally under pressure of some mafia men or after taking some money from encroachers they drop the said drive.

This is why majority of roads and streets are shrinking everyday and getting shorterer and shorter which result in traffic jams frequently. Not only this these encroachers make roads dirty and full of pollution. And the most unfortunate part of the story is that these ecroachers get patronage from national political parties and police officers are humiliated. There are some such  police officers or some musclemen in each such area who collect Dadagiri tax from such encroachers and help them in taking and in continuation of unlawful possession of government land.

Will government formulate a permanent policy and a stable solution for it and ensure that a permanent work force is created to guarantee all government lands as encroschment_free?

Will government penalise defaulting officers who fail to keep their area free of encroachment  ?


For this purpose government can assign virtual ownership right of a road and street  or many road and street  to each traffic police man or each senior administrative officers in town area and to forest officers in forest area. Penalty may be to the tune of value of encroached land as per market rate. This will send a deterrent message to all concerned and help not only  in making government land free of encroachment but also in maintaining cleanliness and pollution free atmosphere.
