Harassment Case Against Bank Official

Harassment case against bank official-The Indian Express -01.12.2013

A woman branch manager of Punjab National Bank's Chakeri branch in Kanpur has lodged an FIR against the bank's regional assistant general manager for allegedly molesting her at his office.

Police have lodged an FIR against the AGM, LK Channa, under IPC 354-A (sexual harassment, physical contact, advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) at Collectorganj police station on the woman's complaint on Thursday.
Collectorganj station officer Alok Rai said the woman alleged that the AGM had called her to his office on November 8 when he touched her cheek and asked her to get physically intimate with him to get her absolved in an inquiry being conducted against her.

Rai said the woman is facing an inquiry for sanctioning a loan in violation of rules.
He said the AGM has, however, denied the allegations saying that he only reprimanded the branch manager for sanctioning the loan in violation of rules.
Rai said police are investigating the matter and they have collected the CCTV footage from the regional office of the bank to examine.

Nothing found in CCTV footage: Police<\b>
Meanwhile, news agency PTI has reported that the CCTV footage of the cabin where the alleged incident took place did not have anything to support the charge.
"The CCTV footage of the AGM's cabin for November 8, the day on which the alleged incident took place, has been analysed, but nothing has been found which can prove that he had sexually harassed the woman," said Collectorganj police station Circle Officer DSP Raghvender Yadav.
"However, since a complaint has been received from the woman, we will today get the CCTV footage of the entire AGM office to see if any objectionable incident took place," he said.
