Union Bank Medical Insurance Circular

Subject: Last date of "Online" registration extended and modification in sanction term

By our letter Nos. AIUBRF/124/2018 and AIUBRF/125/2018 dated 15/10/2018 and 20/10/2018 respectively, All India Union Bank Retirees’ Federation (AIUBRF) had requested Union Bank management to consider keeping open the Portal for “Online” registration for more days from the date of activation of the Portal beyond 22/10/2018. AIUBRF was continuously following up the matter by meeting the executives of HR department personally and explaining that the retired employees would be put into inconvenience while exercising their online option registration within such a short period of 7 days allotted by the Bank. Since it was stated that the Portal would be deactivated from midnight of 22/10/2018, we made hectic follow up to convince the management to consider AIUBRF’s request to extend the deadline of online registration beyond 22/10/2018 as the same is genuine and justifiable. With AIUBRF’s firm emphasis on the issue, we are glad to inform you that the bank management has agreed to reactivate the Portal of “Online” registration by afternoon today to keep it open till 28/10/2018.

We are given to understand that EBD, CO will start recovery of premium amount from the given account of the retired pensioners/employees who have already exercised their “Online” options, since the monthly pension for the month of October 2018 has already been released, again acceding to our request. We request all pensioners to maintain required balance in the designated account number from today till 30/10/2018 on ALL DAYS.

We also request you to note that no deductions will be made on 31/10/2018.

Further, AIUBRF vide letter No. AIUBRF/127/2018 dated 22/10/2018 had drawn the attention of the bank management to the anomaly in the clause of “Security” of the scheme of granting Term Loan to the pensioners. We have explained that the bank has stipulated that the pensioners availing the Term Loan to make payment of premium amount, are required to submit the copy of the acknowledgement of “Online” registration of option; whereas in Staff Circular No. 6858 dated 15/10/2018 it is stated that in case no option is exercised by the retired pensioners/employees it would be presumed that they have opted to continue in the ensuing policy with the same option as given for the existing policy and premium would be deducted accordingly.

We have pointed out to bank management that as per guidelines mentioned in the above staff circular such group of retired pensioners/employees will not be able to produce the evidence as stipulated; thereby field functionaries may refuse to grant loan.  On our above representation, the bank management has agreed to issue instructions to all the branches and offices not to insist for producing the copy of the acknowledgement of “Online” registration from pensioners who wish to avail Term Loan. Members desiring to avail the Loan are requested to take note of this change in security stipulation.

AIUBRF is committed to serve the retired employees of our bank.
