An Appeal To Prime Minister Mr. Modi

BJP should focus on growth and positive agenda only and fully avoid reacting to bad language used by opponents. Victory is certain.. In Delhi election held last year BJP became weak by responding to abusing language used by Mr. Arvind Kejriwal and his Aaam Admi Party. I think leaders of BJP will take from experience of Delhi election. Any talk based on caste or community to compete with talks made by opponents may prove fatal for the party. Let the language used by leaders be polite, humble and growth oriented only .

I however totally dislike use of freebees like scooty, dhoti, laptop etc to motivate voters of Bihar. It is true that in the past various political parties have used such tactics to motivate voters to win the election in their states . But soon voters realised  real character of such leaders and taught a good lesson to them in last election and majority of  such non-performer but clever leaders who tried to win the election by using freebees lost their seat in last Parliamentary election and various state assembly elections. . BJP has to maintain certain standard of attracting voters. People imposed faith on growth agenda of Mr. Modi and brought BJP to power and hence the same focus on growth should be promised, executed and continued in real sense.

Further Finance Minister Mr. Arun Jaitley and RBI Governor Mr. R. Rajan are talking of discipline in public sector banks for last 15 months and suggesting avoidance of political interference to cure sickness of PS banks. PM Narendra Modi also during Gyan Sangam had assured Public banks that during his rule political interference will be minimum .

But the vision documents released by BJP in the state of Bihar on the eve of Assembly Election says that interest free loans will be given to farmers if BJP come to power. This commitment of interest free loans to voters at the cost of profitability of bank is equivalent to not only bribery to voters but also tantamount to political interference in banking matters and the same is fully against the commitment made by learned PM Mr. Modi, FM Mr. Jaitley and RBI Governor Mr. Rajan from time to time during one year and more of BJP rule

Not only sickness in public banks has been increasing quarter after quarter, even Banking community is already unhappy with various schemes imposed on them and now pressure for interest free loans will add fuel to fire. Net interest margin of each PS banks has already faced sharp erosion in succeeding quarters due to falling interest on loans they give  and due to ever rising volume of bad debts attracting higher and higher provisions. BJP will soon lose the love of banking community as well as that of real voters if promise of growth is not adhered to in true spirit. There is no short cut to growth for victory.

Government had to infuse capital from time to time to hide the weakness of banks and will continue to infuse capital even in future  if credit discipline and certain code of conduct is not strictly followed and maintained in disbursal of loans and in repayment of loans.

Even now the  weakness in public banks is beyond the control of the government and hence to handle the crisis , government has been  suggesting merger of weak banks with stronger banks since long, say for last three decades. Government of  Congress Party and that of UPA failed to get success in merger of banks and there is no doubt to me that current NDA  government will also never succeed in this direction. Such merger instead of solving the crisis will aggravate the crisis when even strong banks will become too weak to survive.

In such position , asking banks to give interest free loans will further damage the bank's health and these banks will further lose public confidence, specially of investors in bank's shares. Bank staff will freely distribute loan to achive imposed target without caring quality of lending and some of them will not hesitate even in earning bribe. Branch head of each branch of every bank knows very well that politically motivated loans are given and then written off under political pressure. Borrowers will not repay the loan in anticipation of waiver of loan . And people will exploit the scheme of interest free loan scheme. All taken together , such schemes has already  spoilt credit culture and repayment culture. Not only small borrowers , even big borrowers avail loan with ulterior motive of getting it written off at a later date.

I therefore make an appeal to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and specially Finance Minister  Mr. Arun  Jaitley to refrain from making such commitment to voters which in the long run affects the culture and attitude of loan takers, loan givers and politicians.

It is proper to point out here that present sickness of banks is also largely due to culture of loan mela started by Congress Party during the ministry of Jaganath Pujari and loan waiver culture started by politically ambitious and greed persons like Devi Lal , V P Singh and Chidambram .Mr. Janardan Pujari during Congress Party rule in eighties was considered as  Master of Loan Mela culture . Since then most of political parties have consistently used Bank loan Melas for their self interest. Similarly Mr. Devi Lal thought that  by writing off farmer loan he will become invincible leader in the state of Haryana but he lost election. Mr. V.  P Singh former PM had also in mind that by loan waiver scheme he will create a permanent place for him in the heart of farmers and will continue to win the future elections, but he too lost the game . Mr. P Chidambram, FM in UPA regime  also tried to save Congress Party rule by announcing loan waiver scheme and by forcing banks to conduct Loan melas.   But unfortunately , neither he nor his Congress party could  save their seat and status in Parliament.  In the same way , leaders of various parties have used banks for political gain and thus caused much damage to health of public banks. I am therefore of strong view that BJP will not cut much ice in vote bank by such freebees or by interest free loans.

I expect that Mr. Modi will not weaken the bank further by such unethical tactics. I reiterate that various schemes launched by his government will be appreciated by common men to the extent they are really benefitted .

Otherwise please be ready to face either collapse of banks or their takeover by private banks in future or voluntary handover of public banks to private sector bankers.

BJP's vision for Bihar: Laptops for students, TVs for Dalits, scooters for girls-REDIFF

In a bid to woo voters, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday promised laptops for students, colour televisions for Dalit and Mahadalit families, two-wheelers for girls and dhoti-sari for poor families annually if it wins the Bihar assembly polls and forms the next government.

This was revealed in the BJP's vision document, which was released in Patna by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Speaking after releasing the vision document, which also raises slogans like 'Make in Bihar' and 'Digital Bihar', Jaitley said: The party plans to provide shops for unemployed youths by constructing shops at unused lands available
