Bank Open On 2nd October 2014

CIRCULAR LETTER NO. 27/89/2014/45 dt. 30th September, 2014
To ALL OFFICE BEARERS, STATE FEDERATIONS AND
ALL INDIA BANKWISE ORGANISATIONS

 Dear Comrades,
 1. Asking employees to come to the Bank on 2nd October:...

There are reports that banks are asking employees/officers to come to branches/office on 2nd October, 2014 to take pledge on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and to participate in the connected activities. While we are in favour of such laudable objectives, no one can be compelled to come to branches on holiday for such purposes. However, any willing employee may participate in such programmes on voluntary basis. If there are any instances of compulsion by any management in any of the Banks, our unions should take up the matter suitably. All our members and units are advised accordingly.

 2. Jhan Dhan Yojana:

Similarly, it is AIBEA’s demand that banking should be declared as fundamental right and all the people should be covered by banking services. Hence we welcome the Government’s initiatives that all uncovered households should be enabled to have their accounts in the Banks. Though this by itself would not result in financial inclusion, this is a pre-requisite. But there are reports that employees are required to stay beyond working hours to undertake these activities. This is not acceptable and our Unions should advise our members that there is no understanding or undertaking or agreement with IBA or any Bank management that employees would work beyond their working hours for this purpose.

 With greetings,
Yours Comradely,

 C.H.VENKATACHALAM

We understand that the Banks are asking Officers and Employees to come to Branches on 2nd October, 2014 for taking pledge on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. While we appreciate and support the objective of the movement and extend our wholehearted support for the same, we deplore the procedure adopted by calling officers and employees on National holiday.  Nobody is thoughtful of wastage of time, energy and scarce resources and focused only on their own image building.

We strongly feel such noble campaigns are essential but method of implementation should not be by way of imposing on people, causing them inconvenience.

AIBOC calls upon all its members not to come to their office / branch on this National Holiday but join in taking oath through Electronic /Social Media or any other way convenient to them from the places convenient to them.
Please circulate this message to all members and ensure the implementation.

With warm greetings,
Yours sincerely,

(HARVINDER SINGH)
GENERAL SECRETARY
